The King Abdulaziz University
One of the best ranking universities in the Arab region can be found in Jeddah. King Abdulaziz University (KAU) began as a private institution in 1967 and was converted to a public one a few years later. KAU holds a number of conferences each year and accepts international students on exchange. Seminars and conferences are often held in the Environment Department at the King Faisal Convention Center.
Events and visits
One of the main halls at the university is the King Faisal Convention Center. This hall hosts many events throughout the year including the 1st International Conference on Applied Chemistry (ICAC). If you are planning a seminar at the center, then you can take advantage of the helpful and skilled staff, who are available to assist with organising events. The hall is air-conditioned giving you a welcome break from the heat and there is reserved parking on-site
Faculties and famous Alumni
The university has a number of different faculties, many of which focus on engineering and medicine. Around 40,000 students study here each year and there are over 2,000 staff members. KAU has a number of noteworthy alumni including Sulaiman Abdul Aziz Al Rajhi, who dedicated half his fortune to charity and is one of the top 200 richest people in the world. Another famous alumni is Nahed Taher, the founder of the Gulf One Investment Bank who is on the list of the 100 Most Powerful Women in the World.
