Linnamäki Amusement Park
With over 40 rides for children of all sizes, Helsinki's Linnanmäki Amusement Park makes a great family day out during your holiday in the Finnish capital. With profits going toward Finland's Children's Day Foundation, you can have fun and contribute to a good cause at this colorful park.
Old charm and modern thrillsHelsinki’s premiere amusement park is also the oldest in the country and offers hours of fun for children and adults alike. From spine-tingling roller coasters to play areas for small children, this park has it all. The wooden roller coaster Vuoristorata was built as early as in 1951, in the second year of the park, and has been its most popular thrill ride for over 60 years. However, Linnanmäki continues to improve its offerings and develop new rides and attractions each year. For example, the Salama coaster opened in 2006 and reaches speeds of 60 kilometers per hour.
Fun for the youngestThe park has a number of rides for younger children as well, including carousels, Ferris wheels and play areas, which include a glass maze and a fun house. Ten of the rides offered are free of charge, making it worth to pop by even if you are short on time. If you cannot or do not want to try the rides yourself, your kids can go on a few rides with the park’s own attraction buddies. Every year, at the final week of the season, Linnanmäki stages the Carnival of Light, which includes acting performances and live music as a send-off for the year.
Located just a short journey from the amusement park, the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Helsinki is the perfect place to relax after a day full of thrills and fun. The hotel consists of stylish rooms outfitted with the latest amenities and comfortable furniture, so you can rest easy. Families will be happy to know that the hotel offers rooms of all sizes, suited for all of their needs.
