Paseo del Prado Boulevard
The sunny, tree-lined Paseo del Prado is one of Madrid's main boulevards, connecting the Plaza de Cibeles with Plaza del Emperador Carlos V near Atocha train station. Take a leisurely afternoon stroll along this pleasant boulevard and stop off along the way at some of Spain's best art galleries. Don't forget to keep an eye out for outdoor art and then head to the nearby park and relax in the sun.
Enjoy an artistic walkThe Paseo del Prado is home to the 'Golden Triangle of Art', which encompasses the three most important museums. You can enjoy works from famous Spanish artists at the Museo del Prado, European delights at Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum and contemporary art at the Reina Sofia Museum. Also on the route is the CaixaForum, where you will find excellent post-modern displays.
Walking down the Paseo del Prado, you will find several beautiful, sparkling fountains, yet the crowning glory is certainly the Fuente de Neptuno, or 'Fountain of Neptune', at the Plaza de Canovas del Castillo. Depicting the sea-god Neptune rising from the ocean, the spectacular fountain is a must-see during your stay in Madrid. There is also a lovely park nearby the boulevard. The sprawling greenery of the Parque del Buen Retiro, is sure to help you relax, and you can hire rowboats to take out on the tranquil man-made lake.
