Way Out West Festival
The Way Out West music festival in Gothenburg has been entertaining music lovers since 2007 and continues to do so in the middle of August every year. Taking place in the beautiful Slottsskogen Park, the festival features artists and performers from music genres such as rock, hip-hop and electronic. The festival has been awarded with the Most Innovative Festival award by MTV.
Rocking out festival styleMany high-profile music artists have appeared at the Way Out West festival through the recent years. Among the previous headliners are big names such as Prince, Kanye West, PJ Harvey, Robyn and Fleet Foxes. The Chemical Brothers, Sia, the Wu-Tang Clan and Seinabo Sey have also played, as well as home-grown bands and international stars and artists.
Sold out every yearIt’s no wonder that the Way Out West festival has been sold out every year over the last decade, so plan ahead if you want to be part of the fun. In 2012, the festival set a new attendance record with 27,000 ticket holders. To reduce the environmental impact of the festival, the vent only serves vegetarian food, plus a large percentage of which is organic. Since the festival is held in the heart of the city, the concerts cannot last all night, but that does not mean the party is over. After the festival area is closed, Way Out West opens its very own club program all over the city, called Stay Out West. Tickets to these gigs are included in the festival pass, and are not sold separately.
The Way Out West festival does not provide camping facilities for attendees. So what better way to relax and unwind after a day of enjoying live open-air music than to return to a modern, comfortable hotel room at the Radisson Blu Riverside Hotel in Gothenburg? This centrally located hotel is the ideal base from which to explore the city and its many events that take place throughout the year, whether it be music festivals or sporting events like the Göteborgsvarvet half marathon.
