Kongeparken: the perfect family day out
Kongeparken is a short drive from downtown Stavanger and provides the perfect family day out with over 60 attractions and activities for both children and adults. The park is one of the top five largest amusement parks in Norway. Built around the values of play, learning, exploration and the themes of magic and excitement, the goal is to become the leading park in Scandinavia.
Over 60 rides, attractions and activitiesThe park is run by Bamsekongen, the Bear King, and is the only teddy bear based theme park in the world. It even has its own teddy bear hotel where you can check in your cuddly animals to get their broken or damaged fur and paws mended.
The park divides its activities into three themes: for the youngest, most adventurous and entertainment. The smallest visitors can have endless fun on rides, at the kids’ fire station, playing with tractors and on the farm where they can pet animals, while at the same time meeting some Norwegian children’s characters. For the more adventurous older kids are fast winding or high plummeting rides sure to get the stomach churning, as well as water rides and a visit into an ice grotto to face the north wind. For those unsure of heights, meet your fears face on with an ariel adventure. Throughout the park, there is entertainment for the whole family.
Award-winning adventuresIf you are not already convinced, it might help to know that the park won the Oscar for theme parks, a THEA award. They received this prize for the world’s best new attraction, awarded for the Children’s Fire Station, Barnas Brannstasjon. Watch the kids eyes light up as they receive full training on how to become a firefighter, slide down the fire pole and handle a full emergency in a fire truck.
