Discover Islands Brygge
The recently redeveloped Islands Brygge, which translates to ‘Iceland’s Quay’, area of Copenhagen is a fascinating blend of old and new. Once a long-neglected industrial district, it has been transformed into one of the most fashionable areas of the city, with high-end apartments, office buildings, shops and attractions.
Relax by the water at Havneparken
Islands Brygge is a very popular place, especially on a warm day, as there is plenty to see and do. One of the area's main attractions is Havneparken, a vast public park on the water's edge. This old docking area has become an upper class playground boasting a number attractions, including the Islands Brygge Cultural Centre, (Kulturhuset) and a unique bandstand created out of the hull of a ship.
At the Cultural Center there are approximately 350 events each year based around anything from circuses and concerts to hypnotist shows and theater. Head to this artsy area and enjoy a show, eat a snack at their café, or find some treasures at their Loppemarked markets.
Get your toes wet
You can also take a dip in the Harbor Bath. This open-air swimming venue has five swimming pools, including two designated children's pools, making it the ideal place to cool down on a hot summer's day. When open, the waters are supervised by lifeguards, meaning you can bring the whole family and relax on the grassed area as the children swim. If you don't fancy diving in, you can take a stroll along the waterfront promenade or enjoy a picnic on the pristine lawns in front of the Harbor Bath.
Islands Brygge is situated on the harbor side of the center, just a few minutes' walk from the Radisson Blu Scandinavia Hotel, Copenhagen. This chic property is the perfect option for anyone looking for a hotel within easy reach attractions in this area.
