The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek art museum is a premier attraction for art lovers from around the world, finding themselves in Copenhagen. Founded in 1888, the museum is built around the personal collection of dedicated art collector, and son of the Carlsberg Breweries founder, Carl Jacobsen. It is focusing on the 2 main departments of ancient and modern art.
Explore the unique art collectionWith a combination of ancient and modern art, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek offers visitors a unique combination of historical and contemporary installations. Over 3,500 years of art and history from Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan and Roman periods encompass the Department of Antiques, while Danish and French paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries, including 40 works by Gauguin, can be seen in the Modern Department.
Although it is home to an impressive array of paintings, the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is primarily a sculpture museum, showcasing an extensive collection of the bronze sculptures of Degas as well as the most important collection of Rodin sculptures outside France.
