Enjoy exciting Södermalm

Are you a vintage fashion, interior design or antiques lover? Then Södermalm, affectionately known as Söder, with its trendy, Bohemian vibe is the place to go when in Stockholm. The streets here are filled with a relaxed, creative and trendy vibe, especially in the SoFo, south of Folkungagatan, area. As well as being home to a wide range of boutique shops, Söder is also home to some of the city’s best views, art galleries and museums, such as Fotografiska.

Shop til you drop

Södermalm has a wide variety of shops to choose from. Vintage clothing and accessories are big in this part of town, and you can even get a pair of 1970’s classic handmade shoes. During spring and summer there are several flea markets found in the Hornstull area, where you can go on a thrilling treasure hunt in a picturesque setting. You can also find a variety of food stalls and trucks here. If you can’t make it to the markets, then you can sample the best of Swedish design sold by various stores in the area.

See the best of Söder

If you want to go for a romantic walk, or just a stroll to take in the sights, then the 500 meter long Monteliusvägen is where you need to be. Here, you’ll be treated to a stunning view of Lake Mälaren, City Hall and Riddarholmen as you make your way between small, charming houses. Fjällgatan is another spectacular viewpoint, where the street is lined with well-preserved wooden buildings from the 1700s on one side and a magnificent view on the other.

If you want to explore all that Södermalm has to offer, then our Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel, Stockholm, is the perfect base for your ventures into the city. Here, you have both Söder and other attractions, like the Old Town, Royal Palace and Storkyrkan, within walking distance.
