BIRMINGHAM – THE PERFECT CITY BREAK DESTINATION
Soak up the atmosphere in lively Birmingham! Stay in serious style at the luxury Radisson Blu Hotel, known for its cutting-edge design and city centre location, just minutes from excellent shopping and a host of cultural attractions. Visit the fascinating National Sealife Centre and the National Indoor Arena, or take a day trip to Shakespeare's birthplace and the beautiful Cotswolds.
Birmingham has become a shoppers’ paradise – and with luxury shops, boutique designer shops and the big high street names in a variety of different centres, shopping is one of the city’s top attractions.
At the heart of the city is the Bullring shopping centre. Designed around the old market this modern shopping mall has more than 160 shops including high street names galore as well as a wonderful Selfridge’s store. You’ll see the “bubble-wrap” building close to the old church by the train station. There are 25 cafes and restaurants if you need to grab a bite to eat.
Once you’ve exhausted this area then head down to the canal and the Mailbox. This luxury shopping centre housed in an old Royal Mail sorting office is a dream for anyone looking for high end names (it’s also just across the road from the hotel so it’s easy to pop over for a couple of hours). The Mailbox is being refurbished and will open with a new Harvey Nichols and Emporio Armani in Spring 2015, so check with the concierge before you head over there, as some shops may still be open when you staying.
If you’re looking for something a bit more independent then your best bet are the little streets around Corporation Street, the Great Western Arcade which is a real Victorian Arcade, or the Jewellery Quarter for some genuine design talent.
Look out for Grand Central Birmingham in 2015 – the new shopping centre above the train station which will have more than 60 popular outlets and one of the largest John Lewis stores in the UK. Happy shopping!
